The Change

Greetings friends,

I have some rather distressing news for you all, and it affects my life and yours. I have a full-time job waiting for me in Western Australia, and right now the highest likelihood is that I will take that offer, and be gone for at least a year, probably more. I know I mean a lot to some of you; To others, maybe not so much, but we're all part of the same family and I would appreciate your input on this matter. Don't be selfless here but don't be selfish either. Please, leave a comment and tell me whether you would prefer me to stay.

My work, should I choose to accept it, would be as an office assistant. I would answer phones, input orders into the computers as well as making sure the office runs smoothly, computers all working and the software all updated. I would be earning (after tax and bills) about a thousand dollars every fortnight, which isn't nothing. I would be saving enough to make a trip every year back to Tasmania for a few weeks to see you all.

My other option is to move up to Launceston, where I would be able to travel down fairly often. Here, I have accomodation, but no certainty of a job. This option does not hold much appeal with me, but feel free to side with this option.

Please, feedback from EVERYONE is appreciated.

i agree with the smagster - staying would be good, but if you want to go travelling (well, to some extent) then WA seems best :)

From a purely financial perspective you'd be a fucking idiot to stay. Go out there and make as much money as possible, even if it's for a year. Money you make when you're young, wisely invested, is money you'll live off when you retire.

It'd be a shame if you were gone, but incredibly selfish for anybody to tell you to stay on their behalf (unless they were willing to offer you a grand a fortnight to do it, in which case make sure they sign a contract before you agree). Get out there! Venture into the wide brown land that is Western Australia! Kill a Kangaroo or whatever it is they do for entertainment over there.

Seriously mate enjoy yourself over there.

I've spent a few weeks in WA it can be an awesome place, as well as a monotonous one. I think it sounds like a fantastic opportunity, but if you go for it make sure you travel around.

Good luck.

Zen, I am going to miss you so much. But I know that friendships can last from a distance, Matt and Heather are the perfect example of that. We all live under the one sky and are all part of the same family and when you find people that you care deeply for then the beauty of today's society becomes very useful. There is no doubt that a lot of people will miss you but "As I lay me down to sleep: This I pray: That you will hold me dear: Though I'm
far away" Remember that!

The selfish part: I want you to stay. You're one of my best and most understanding friends. A lot will be missed if you're gone. But as your first comment-maker said, relationships can last over long distances, so I hope that's true in our case.

On a less me-centred note, I think the sensible - and best - choice is to leave. You'd be more financially sound, and become more independent and self-reliant. Sure I, and a lot of others, would miss you heaps, but if your path takes you there then we shouldn't stop you.

Whatever you do, may God be with you all the way. Stay safe and we'll look forward to your visits should you leave.

Stay strong in Him,
luv Lynne.

As a job it sounds great for you, good money etc... but you would be missed. :(

I suppose it just comes down to how much you need to see your friends. I suppose you know how hard it is to move already ^^.

I think whatever you decide to do you can make it right... Wow, hows all that for a non-answer. Good luck!

Hi Zen, I had no idea you were going to leave - until Saturday, and by then I think it was already cancelled anyway. (phew!)

There is a job I am about to apply for, but I will let you apply for it too :) besides, I am so busy I probably won't have time for it anyway. It is a part time office admin position in kingston, it was advertised at least 10 days ago, but I have emailed someone to make sure that applications will still be accepted. I'll send a link to you through Bebo.
